What if customer data could be something you didn't just analyze—but experience? For Acquia Engage London 2023, the innovators at Acquia Labs set out to answer exactly that question, turning invisible backend data into something breathtaking.
At its core, a customer data platform collects, unifies, and organizes vast streams of complex customer data into single, persistent profiles. It's powerful—but typically hidden from view. Acquia Labs wanted to change that. They took real, multifaceted CDP data, fed it into a custom algorithmic engine, and transformed the raw backend information into dynamic, striking digital art splashed across a massive 15-foot display wall.
But the installation didn't stop there. Armed with twin motion sensors, the display invited attendees to step up and shape the artwork themselves—manipulating the evolving visuals in real time using their own body movements. The result was an unforgettable, hands-on experience that showcased data in living color.
By merging analytical data science with experiential art, this Acquia Labs project proved that first-party customer insights don't have to stay trapped in dashboards and spreadsheets. Data can be a vivid, interactive story waiting to be told.
